What is Run Like a Hero?
Run Like a Hero is a solidarity initiative of inclusive sporting events organized by the Phelan-McDermid Syndrome Associationa non-profit organization that works to inform the world about this rare disease and offer support to the families of those affected.
Bringing families together since 2020
This project was born in 2020 as a virtual initiative, due to health restrictions, and has already had four editions uniting Phelan families in Europe, North America and Latin America. In Spain, in addition to the virtual race, several races are held in person.
All funds raised from race registrations go towards research and the organization of activities for the benefit of people with Phelan-McDermid Syndrome and their families.
Currently, the inclusive sports and leisure initiative Run Like a Hero consists of a virtual race, Global Running Week, and three in-person races in Majadahonda (Madrid), Herencia (Ciudad Real) and Ortuella (Vizcaya).
